We’ve got a great team of volunteers all helping to provide skills for life for our young people in Golcar.
Not all our roles require you to wear a uniform or stand at the front leading young people, we’ve got loads of behind-the-scenes roles including mowing the grass or helping to manage our finances. We’ve got roles for everyone, even if you can only volunteer for an hour every year!

Frequently asked questions

Not at all, some of our roles can be flexible to fit in around your busy schedule. For our leader roles it might be that you can only help every other week, or once a month, and thats fine.

Scouts is a uniformed organisation, and we would encourage volunteers to wear uniform if helping in our youth sections. All our behind the scenes roles don’t require you to wear a uniform.

The majority of adults in the Scouts will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check. This is provided free of charge.
Some behind the scenes roles don’t require a DBS check where there is no contact with young people.

For roles requiring a DBS check, you’ll need to do another through The Scouts, this is part of our vetting processes when you volunteer. The Scouts also don’t use the DBS Update Service, so this also can not be used.
