Photo and Video Policy

We take photos and videos to help record the fun and adventures that your child enjoys through Scouting and to promote the positive benefits of Scouting to the wider community.

In some circumstances, Photos and Video will be classed as personal information under GDPR. We process this personal information under legitimate interests.

We use SmugMug (smugmug.com) as our main photo and video storage and where the majority of our photos will be published in the first instance.

We also may publish our photos in Communications and Publications, including but not limited to; Letters, Posters, Newsletters, Magazines, Emails, Social Media and Websites at all levels of The Scout Association.

We sometimes submit these photos/videos to external media for publication where appropriate.

Members of the Group, friends and family are permitted to take photographs and videos while on Group property. We have no control over who takes photos and videos of members of the Group while outside our usual meeting venue, due to the ever-changing technology and cameras being readily available on many mobile devices.

Any photos taken remain the intellectual property of the photographer and may be published elsewhere.

Any of our Volunteers who take photos and video, provide The Scout Group with an unlimited license to use their works for the benefit of the charity.

Photos and video will be stored and processed by the photographer/videographer prior to and after publication.

If you have any concerns, require further information or would like to opt-out please speak with the Group Scout Leader.
