Explorers
The Explorer Scout Unit is for young people, aged between 14½ and 18 years.
The adventurous programme in Explorers has included Climbing, Archery, Ice Skating, Hiking & Expeditions, First Aid, Survival Skills & Camping, Micro Navigation, Geocaching and Windsurfing!
With over 15 Explorer Scouts taking part on a regular basis, the Unit is a vibrant place where the Young adults plan their own programmes and activities, and take a leading part in organising them. The members of the Unit also work towards various badges and Awards. The aim of all Explorers is to gain the Queens Scout Award, the highest Award in Scouting for young people. The Unit is also a registered Duke of Edinburgh Award Unit, and all its members have the opportunity to work towards these prestigious Awards, with the aim of gaining the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. They can also become a Young Leader and help the Leader team in a younger Section to gain experience in working with younger people and become better at planning and organising programmes and events. All these things are great to add to a person’s Curriculum Vitae and help them stand out!
Explorer Scouts are youth members aged between 14 and 18 years old.
We meet on Wednesday evening between 7.30pm – 9.15pm.
