Scouts Winter Weekend - 18/01/2012

Our final residential event of 2011 was an indoor weekend at our HQ in Golcar.

On Friday evening we set up our tents in the main hall and decorated the Centre with a Christmas tree and festive Christmas decorations. The evening entertainment was the film ‘A Wonderful Life’.

On Saturday morning Scouts rotated around three activity bases – 1) Baking Christmas treats, 2) Making nativity play finger puppets, 3) Christmas table decorations.

After lunch we headed to Leeds Road Super Bowl for an hour of ten pin bowling. Everyone enjoyed the bowling – with some Scouts scoring over 100 points!

For tea we had a full Christmas meal – with hot chickens from Asda, vegetables, stuffing and Christmas pudding and mince pies for afters. In the evening we watched each Patrol perform their finger puppet nativity play and then we watched the Scouts Robin Hood movie.

Sunday morning was all geared around the Outdoor and Outdoor Plus Challenge badges. There were six bases – menu planning, shopping lists, gas stoves, trangia’s, lamps and basic pioneering.

It was a great way to end the year and the tents went away clean and dry!
