Northumberland Camp - 24/12/2011
We started the journey to Barrasford with our Santa Hats on and the music on full blast having a great time! We had no idea what Ben and Duane were hiding! We arrived at Barrasford Station with beaming smiles spread across our faces, after 10 minutes of finding the lights, we unpacked to the sheer coldness that was Barrasford Train Station. After unpacking we soon learnt that Ben had been keeping a 12 week old puppy called Rover on the front seat of the minibus!

We all sat round a table and ate chips whilst listening to some great, terrifying ghost stories about a man on fire running through the village. Oh my goodness!!!! After that, we walked back up to our accommodation, had some hot chocolate, played with the dog and got into our P.Js ready for a well-earned rest.
Soon enough we were awakened by the coldness that ran through us. We got up, and had breakfast. We then travelled to Hexham where we walked around the village where we bought Rover a kitten collar! After our shopping trip, we went on a so-called ‘stroll’, which happened to be nothing of the chuffing sort! We walked through piles of mud, giant hills while it was pouring it down and we got absolutely drenched…. Fun! Although we did sing Christmas carols to cheer the mood, we finally got back to the mini bus to find it was stuck in the mud!

We all pushed the minibus without getting muddy. However Duane was not lucky with a huge splodge of mud in his face, which definitely cheered everybody up!
We then got home, showered and practised our plays and song for the End of Year Show. We all settled down to watch Lord of the Rings…. most of us fell asleep, as it was 12 O’clock and the walk had tired us out.
Sunday morning: Time for the beach (in December, that’s right…)! We set off in the minibus to North Shields and had a lovely stroll. Harry, Dom, Tom and Ayesha wrote a massive 4th Golcar in the sand and then all us girls went on a joyful shopping spree. First was the Co-Op where we bought a cake, some cookies, a magazine, donuts and some water. Second stop was Subway ‘Eat Fresh!’ We then went to the craft stalls and had to ask some Chinese tourists the way to the Christmas Fare.

After a lovely gander, we made our way back to our meeting point, walked back along the promenade and into the minibus we leaped! Now for the journey back! Stuffing our faces with cake, falling asleep with the puppy, waking back up and singing to the music we then arrived back in the village known as Golcar to greet our most loved parents, brothers, sisters etc.
Overall a fantastic weekend had by all!
