Pirate Mania - 22/11/2011
A spooky time was had b the Explorer Unit in October as they camped in 'Wigwams' at a campsite in Mirfield. On Friday night we tried out the new craze of Slacklining (similar to rightrope walking) which was fun, but was it reall hard to balance.
Saturday came about with full pirate costumes for all. The Explorers boarded a Safe Anchor Trust canal boat which took us on a long afternoon cruise to Brighouse. During our trip, we learned how to open & operate canal locks aswell as steering the boat. We finally arrived back in Mirfield to be greated by a real living Parrot! It looked great with our costumes.

After tea, the fun and games started as we had scavenger hunters in the dark, apple dunking, eating Harribo sweets from bowls of flour and eating jam donuts tangling from string whilst being blind folded. It all got very messy, to say the least. We finished off the evening with a traditional campfire with an accoustic guitar before listening to some scary ghost stories and a short evening stroll
On Sunday morning we had an archery session which ended up being a Girls v Boys competition. Along with this, we played on the indoor bouldering wall and had a DJ class where we learnt to mix and scratch with "old skool vinyl"! When camp ended at 3pm we were all really tired after an amazing weekend of fun and adventure.
