Sculptures in the Sun! - 29/09/2011
This September Explores spent two nights camping at Woolly Edge Scout Camp, where they enjoyed a training weekend and a visit to Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
This camp was planned and ran by two of our older end Explorer Scouts. This involved booking the campsite, putting together a balanced programme, and catering. They used this camp as a training weekend to pass on their Explorer Scouting skills to the younger Explorers. The training included how to erect a parachute to use as a shelter, hammocks, knot challenges and fire lighting. The weather was kind so this meant we could cook all our meals on open fires. Throughout the weekend we also visited Yorkshire Sculpture Park, where had a massive game of Frisbee and looked round the exhibits.
Thanks to the Explorer Scouts that planned and ran this camp we hope to see more camps like this in the future.
