District Scout Camp - 26/07/2011

District Scout Camp was held at Woolley Edge Scout Camp on the weekend of 1 -3 July 2011. It was attended by six Groups. It was a nice sunny weekend and the Scouts got to take part in a number of ‘back to basics’ activities. These included:

Team Challenge – build a structure from poles, ropes and pipes to get a ball from point A to point B – as SLOWLY as possible.

Backwoods Cooking – Nettle tea, and chocolate fruit.

Axe and Saw training.

Observation exercise.

Gutting fish.

Pioneering.

Bomb disposal challenge.

In the evening there was a camp fire, followed by a huge wide game.

On Sunday we all walked to the nearby Laser Tag Centre. Scouts took part in Laser Tag in teams of six. This event was enjoyed by everyone who took part.

We have never camped at Woolley Edge before but I think there’s a chance that we will go there again.
