Environment Partnership Award - 25/07/2011

On Sunday 8 May we held our Group Environment Event at Scout HQ.

Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts joined together for two hours of activities, which included:

- Making bird feeders.

- Planting tubs with flowers for Golcar Lily Day.

- Making artificial flowers to decorate the inside of Golcar Scout Centre.

- Litter picking around the village.

- Clearing the ginnels.

To gain the Environment Partnership Award the youngsters need to - participate in this Group event, do 2 hours of environment work (Beavers), 4 hours (Cubs), 6 hours (Scouts/Explorer Scouts). The extra environment programme hours have included planting bulbs in the village, making bird and bat boxes, tree planting at Scammonden and finding out about the wildlife and plants that live int he ginnels of Golcar.

Following the Group Environment Event we put together a display and this is now up in the library on Town End.
