Tent Practise and Campsite Safety - 23/05/2011
In preparation for the upcoming Group Camp, the cubs spent an evening practising how to put up and deck our tents (inside however, due to gale force winds!).
One half of the pack started by erecting the tent in the main hall, we learnt about:
- Unpacking the tent
- Putting the poles together and then into the canvas
- How the pins work to hold the poles in place
- Pushing the tent up
- Taking it down again
- Packing it away
While the other half of the pack went with Akela to learn about campsite rules and skills such as:
- Wood chopping areas – Boundaries and rules
- Rules while inside and around tents
- Hammering in pegs
Finally at the end of the night we invested a new Cub into the pack that had recently come up from Beavers!
