Scout Camp at Bradley Wood - 07/05/2011
Our first camp of the year was on the weekend of 25 – 27 March at Bradley Wood.
38 Scouts attended altogether and we just about managed to get them all into our patrol tents. For 8 of our Scouts it was their last camp before moving to Explorers – so we had a few treats for them – including take-away pizza on Friday night, lightweight tents and free time on Saturday afternoon. For another 11 of our Scouts it was their first camp – and they learnt LOTS! We had bases on fire lighting, making char cloth, safe use of knives, gadgets, wood collecting and tent erecting.
After lunch we did first aid incidents – a number of incidents were set up around the site, including a ‘spot the hazards’ scene around the camp fire/chopping area.
It was bacon and pasta for tea, cooked on an open fire, followed by fruit pies and cream.
In the evening we went to the site camp fire and then we set about designing a ‘super hero’ for Golcar – a project for Golcar Lily Day.
On Sunday we decked the site and played several wide games before leaving at 3:00pm.
