Group Camp 2010 - The Big Adventure - 08/06/2010
Last weekend over 100 members of 4th Golcar (Huddersfield) Scout Group enjoyed a Big Adventure!
Over the weekend the Scouts, both boys and girls, aged between 6 and 18 undertook a number of adventurous activities including a water slide.
The theme for the camp was ‘get cooking’, focusing on food and healthy eating while also encouraging parents to come along and see how rewarding volunteering is and find out how they can help allow more young people enjoy Scouting.

Over 50 parents attended the camp and got involved running different activity bases, from pizza making and biscuit decorating to water slides and bridge building.
During the weekend the weather was at times challenging, with heavy rain on the Friday and Sunday. Craig Ellis, Scouter in charge and Scout Leader, said: "As I told the youngsters: Anyone can camp in good weather, but it takes a Scout to be able to camp in bad weather".
4th Golcar (Huddersfield) Scout Group announced last month a record 17.24% increase in numbers of young people joining the group last year.
Bear Grylls, Chief Scout and Adventurer, said: "My goal as Chief Scout is for every young person that wants to be involved in Scouting to be able to take part.
"But in order to make this happen we need even more adult volunteers to keep up with the demand. So my aim is to encourage even more adults to volunteer alongside me and join in that Scouting adventure."
Scouting has many opportunities for adults to volunteer, from a couple of hours a week to one evening every six months. Come along and join the adventure!
