This Saturday the 4th Golcar Scout Group is 60 years old and as part of the celebrations Golcar Scout and Community Centre in Manor Road, will be officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Dr Ingrid Roscoe.

The 4th Huddersfield (Golcar) Scout Group turns 60 this year.

The troop was founded on July 23, 1951 by John Ripley and Reuben Linfoot.

15/01/2011 - Golcar Scouts take home top Troop title

The 4th Golcar (Huddersfield) Scout Troop beat nine others to take the Huddersfield South West District.

During 2010 they competed in seven district events and won first place in six of them. The Scouts got off to a flying start last January when they won the district table tennis competition.

13/07/2010 - Mayor appeals for Scout Leaders

The Mayor of Kirklees, Cllr Andrew Palfreeman, is appealing for volunteers to become leaders with their local scout group.

 

The Mayor and Mayoress with leaders at the Huddersfield South West Scouts AGMCouncillor Palfreeman said: “At this time of year the Mayor is invited to many scout group AGMs around Kirklees and at them all I am impressed by the contribution made by the adult supporters.

PARENTS joined scouts around the campfire this weekend as part of a scheme to get them involved with local groups.

More than 100 scouts, beavers and cubs attended the event at Bradley Wood Scout Camp.

SCOUTS and Girl Guides from Huddersfield are planning to jet across the world.

Two volunteers are off to the world’s biggest scouting event.

Daniel Haigh, from Golcar, and Roger Snow, from Holmfirth, have been selected from Scouting’s 100,000 adult volunteers to represent the UK at the 22nd World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011.
