Steve Ruscoe
Group Chairman
Can you tell us about your Scouting History?
My sons Thomas and Edward were members of the group and I remember the first time I was approached by Craig about joining the committee. We were at the St Georges’ Day Parade at Marsden 9 or 10 years ago. Craig asked myself and my wife Anne Marie if we would consider joining the committee and we agreed to go along to the next meeting. After 2 years or so the chairman at the time had to step down from his position due to work commitments and I was asked to step in to fill the roll. I am still enjoying the roll and our monthly meetings and occasional meal out is a good social get together.
Where is your favourite Campsite?
I have helped out on a number of camps by driving the van containing kit but I have only really camped at Bradley Woods which I think is the ideal site with fantastic facilities (just a shame about the motorway lullaby but I have my own ways of knocking myself out to ensure a good night sleep!).
What is your favourite Scouting activity?
I really enjoy going on camps and sitting around the camp fire after a day full of fun and activity. Seeing the children having such enjoyment is very satisfying and its at times like that when you realise how much planning and hard work has been given by the leaders.
What is your most memorable Scouting experience?
My favourite experiences are when we get the many compliments from the public about the excellent behavior and smart appearance of our group when on parade, helping out at Golcar Lily Day, or more recently when travelling to Kandersteg. I am very proud of the group and feel honoured to be involved with such a fantastic group of enthusiastic children and adults.
What food do you like?
I like most foods but any kind of fish “no bones or batter!” is my fav.
Do you have a favourite quote?
Don’t panic – we can sort it!
