Philip Houlton
Assistant Cub
Scout Leader
Can you tell us about your Scouting History?
My family has been involved in scouting for a long time so I was taken on camps before i even officially joined the movement. I started at 26th Blackbrook St.Helens in beavers and then into the cub section which was run by my mother. I then moved to 15th St.Andrews which was the scout troop my father and brother had belonged to. I was part of the Windle Wombles Explorer group this was basically an extention of the 15th but we had several other scout troops come to us so we had to make up a new name. This was when explorers was a brand new idea and wasn't that big a change for the 15th as we had always done older end scout camps with the 3 ventures we had at our unit doing the same exciting things explorers do now. I then had a short break from scouting finishing off my A levels and Starting university. I found out about the need for leaders from Louise as she was thinking about becoming a beaver leader I decided to come along as i realised how much i'd missed scouting.
